Position Summary

Talladega College seeks an innovative, strategic, and technology-driven College Registrar to provide visionary leadership for the Office of the Registrar. Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President, the Registrar serves as the institution’s chief steward of academic records, student information systems, enrollment data integrity, and academic compliance.

The Registrar will lead the modernization of registrar operations through technology, process improvement, and data-informed decision-making while ensuring exceptional customer service, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. As a key member of the Academic Affairs leadership team, the Registrar partners across the College to strengthen the student experience, support strategic enrollment initiatives, improve institutional effectiveness, and advance the College’s mission of academic excellence.

Essential Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Operational Excellence

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for all Registrar operations while supervising a team of fewer than three staff members.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve policies, procedures, and operational workflows related to registration, records management, degree auditing, curriculum processing, graduation, and academic scheduling.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, customer service, and continuous improvement within the Registrar’s Office.
  • Lead organizational change initiatives that encourage adoption of technology-enhanced business processes and operational efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, Student Success, Financial Aid, Institutional Effectiveness, Information Technology, and Student Affairs to support institutional priorities.

Technology, Digital Transformation & Innovation

  • Serve as the institutional functional leader for Jenzabar (J1) Student Information System (SIS), ensuring optimal utilization and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, workflow automation, and digital solutions that enhance operational efficiency and student services.
  • Lead implementation and optimization of technology platforms including:
     
    • Jenzabar (J1)
    • Parchment
    • National Student Clearinghouse
    • DocuSign
    • Google Workspace
    • Microsoft Excel and reporting applications
  • Develop technology-driven solutions that reduce manual processes while improving data accessibility, accuracy, and customer experience.
  • Ensure institutional data integrity through standardized validation and quality assurance practices.

Data Strategy, Analytics & Institutional Reporting

  • Serve as the College’s primary authority on academic records and enrollment reporting.
  • Produce executive-level reports and dashboards supporting:
     
    • Enrollment trends
    • Retention and persistence
    • Graduation rates
    • Degree production
    • Course demand and utilization
    • Student success metrics
  • Translate complex institutional data into actionable recommendations for executive leadership.
  • Collaborate with Institutional Effectiveness and Information Technology to strengthen institutional data governance and reporting consistency.
  • Support accreditation, federal, state, NCAA (if applicable), and external reporting requirements.

Compliance & Academic Records Administration

  • Maintain complete compliance with FERPA and all applicable federal and state regulations governing student academic records.
  • Ensure secure management of student academic records and institutional data.
  • Oversee enrollment verification, transcript processing, degree certification, graduation audits, residency verification, and academic record maintenance.
  • Maintain compliance with financial aid enrollment reporting requirements and National Student Clearinghouse submissions.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and recommend institutional policy updates.

Academic Operations & Student Success

  • Partner with faculty, deans, department chairs, and academic leadership regarding:
     
    • Course scheduling
    • Curriculum implementation
    • Academic catalog updates
    • Degree audits
    • Graduation certification
  • Support academic advising initiatives through accurate records management and timely reporting.
  • Collaborate with Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Success, and Academic Affairs to strengthen strategic enrollment management, student persistence, and degree completion initiatives.
  • Lead planning and execution of commencement ceremonies and graduation certification.

Transfer, Articulation & Student Mobility

  • Maintain expertise in the Alabama Transfer Model and statewide articulation agreements.
  • Develop collaborative partnerships with Alabama institutions and peer HBCUs to promote seamless student transfer pathways.
  • Ensure transfer evaluations are timely, accurate, and student-centered.
  • Support statewide initiatives that enhance transfer student success and mobility.

Campus Collaboration & Executive Communication

  • Serve as the institutional liaison for Registrar-related policies and procedures.
  • Present regularly to executive leadership, faculty governance committees, and campus stakeholders regarding academic operations and institutional data.
  • Build collaborative partnerships across all institutional divisions to strengthen communication, operational effectiveness, and student success.
  • Promote exceptional customer service while maintaining high standards of professionalism and accountability.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Educational Leadership, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Seven to ten years of progressively responsible experience in registrar operations, academic administration, enrollment services, or institutional effectiveness, including at least three years in a supervisory leadership role.
  • Demonstrated expertise using Student Information Systems, preferably Jenzabar (J1).
  • Advanced experience with institutional reporting, data analytics, and data integrity.
  • Extensive knowledge of FERPA regulations and higher education compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with:
     
    • Parchment
    • National Student Clearinghouse
    • DocuSign
    • Microsoft Excel (Advanced)
    • Google Workspace
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience serving at a Historically Black College or University (HBCU).
  • Demonstrated leadership in digital transformation or enterprise technology implementation.
  • Experience supporting accreditation and institutional effectiveness initiatives.
  • Experience leading organizational change and process improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of strategic enrollment management principles.
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership, governing boards, or accreditation teams.

Compensation

Salary Range: $60,000–$75,000 annually, commensurate with education, experience, and institutional benchmarks.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, on-campus leadership position requiring occasional evening and weekend work during registration, commencement, and institutional reporting cycles. The Registrar works collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment focused on student success, operational excellence, and continuous institutional improvement.
